๐Ÿ’ต ~$170k-$200k
๐Ÿ“Remote - United States

Summary

The job is for a Developer Advocate at Speakeasy, a remote company that builds API infrastructure. The role involves creating content, collaborating with other teams, engaging with developers in communities, and working with customers and partners to co-create content. The ideal candidate is a great writer, has a solid content portfolio, is comfortable with ambiguity, understands the target personas, and is technically proficient.

Requirements

  • A great writer who loves storytelling
  • A solid content portfolio. It can be for a company, or your own personal site
  • Comfortable with end-to-end ownership: weโ€™re a small team, we own content pieces from conception to distribution. We believe in context over control, and trust each other to own outcomes and drive projects to completion
  • Highly agile and thrives under ambiguity: there are no set structures or processes, and we experiment rapidly. To succeed, youโ€™ll need to be comfortable forming a point of view and driving an agenda. When things donโ€™t work, youโ€™ll embrace shifting priorities
  • A keen understanding of our target personas (typically eng and product leaders responsible for APIs), what they care about and what will resonate most with them. You need to be able to switch from the 35,000 foot macro view to the micro โ€œhands-onโ€ tutorial โ€” sometimes in the same presentation, webinar or tutorial
  • Technically proficient: youโ€™ll be interacting with developers day-in and day-out. To be effective, youโ€™ll need to get very hands-on and in the weeds on details ranging from OpenAPI specifications, to programming idioms, to Speakeasyโ€™s product

Responsibilities

  • Writing high-quality content that is interesting and useful to a technical audience
  • Creating example code repos to supplement your writing
  • Collaborating with other team members on editing and improving each other's work
  • Distributing your own content where, when, and how you think it should be distributed
  • Running experiments to test out new content channels & formats: videos, podcasts, social, etc
  • Working with customers and partners to co-create content
  • Engaging frequently with developers in communities and forums, championing Speakeasy and providing market feedback to our team

Preferred Qualifications

You have been a developer before. If you still love shipping code โ€” dreaming up exciting content and then shipping it โ€” thatโ€™s a huge plus!

Benefits

  • Unlimited PTO. Weโ€™ll bug you if you donโ€™t take enough time off. This is a marathon, not a sprint
  • Team off-sites and a travel budget to go to conferences and in person collaborations
  • Best in class healthcare (medical / dental / vision at 100% for you) and 401K in the USA; private healthcare and pension plan for UK
  • WFH budget: choose your own perfect setup!
