Summary

Join our team as a Development Intern and contribute to regional market, permitting, and interconnection research. This paid temporary position involves independent work on discrete tasks, with minimal travel. You will conduct market research across multiple states, gather information on energy policy and transmission projects, and compile research for strategic planning. The role also includes permitting research, supporting community outreach, and performing other duties as needed. This position requires proven development experience, project management skills, and proficiency in various software applications.

Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years of proven development experience within the respected region
  • Ability to travel and possess a valid license to drive an automobile
  • Project management including scoping projects, estimating costs, and creating schedules and budgets using management software such as excel, MS Project and Smartsheet
  • Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Experience with GIS software
  • Experience with land acquisition
  • Knowledge of local and state-level permitting processes
  • Proven experience delivering time-pressured projects on-time and on-quality
  • Ability to work in a small team
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Prolonged periods of working at a computer
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
  • Must be able to climb or balance
  • Must be able to stop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Must have the ability to identify and distinguish colors

Responsibilities

  • Regional market research in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, and New York
  • Assemble information from the development of energy storage and transmission investment related policy from the most recent legislative sessions
  • Assemble information from approved transmission upgrade projects in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and Maine
  • Compile research to support long-term regional strategic planning
  • Permitting research in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, and New York
  • Compile information from project areas to understand local opinions and attitudes toward renewable energy development
  • Support community outreach events for projects located in Connecticut and New York
  • All other duties as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior legal experience
  • Knowledge of grid-scale batteries, renewable energy, energy markets, and electrical engineering
