Summary

Join Avero's Product Operations team as a DevOps Engineer! This 100% remote role involves collaborating with the engineering team to deploy and operate systems, automating processes, building and maintaining deployment tools, and troubleshooting issues across various environments. You will build and maintain AWS cloud infrastructure and on-premises infrastructure, design monitoring systems, and support the migration to cloud-based microservices. Success requires 5+ years of DevOps/Systems Administration experience, strong understanding of DevOps concepts, and proficiency in various languages and tools. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in DevOps and/or Systems Administration
  • Strong understanding of the core concepts of DevOps, microservices, systems administration, and monitoring/alerting
  • Languages – Python, Java, Shell Scripting
  • Infrastructure Tools – Terraform, Chef
  • Container Infrastructure – Docker and Docker Compose, ECS
  • Databases – MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server
  • Elastic Stack – Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana
  • Source Control – Git and Bitbucket
  • Linux administration (Ubuntu, Fedora, and/or Amazon Linux)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain Amazon Web Services cloud infrastructure (as code)
  • Support on-premises hardware and software infrastructure
  • Build and maintain custom solutions
  • Support of migration of on-premises monolithic application infrastructure to cloud-based microservices
  • Design and implement monitoring and alerting systems
  • Explore, implement, and test new technologies
  • Participate in on-call pager rotation
  • Champion operational excellence, actively participating in the process of development and continuous improvement
  • Provide technical support to your team members, take ownership of your work, and always be learning
  • Participate in code reviews, defining and refining your team’s process

Preferred Qualifications

  • Languages – Groovy, Perl
  • Build tools – Maven, Ant, Gradle
  • Infrastructure Tools – Packer, CloudFormation
  • Databases – Oracle, RedShift
  • Experience working within remote or geographically distributed teams
