Summary

Join Pax8 as a DevOps Engineer II and contribute to the reliability and security of our cloud-based technology marketplace. You will work on concurrent projects, mentoring junior engineers, and supporting the availability of our services. Responsibilities include managing security controls, interpreting observability data, and participating in on-call rotations. This role requires significant experience with AWS services, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines. Requirements

  • At least four (4) to seven (7) years of experience supporting application development, preferably microservices and a Java based web platform
  • Healthy attitude and prioritizes positive interactions that motivate and inspire creativity
  • Competently manages two projects concurrently and proactively seeks guidance when facing challenges
  • Programming/scripting languages: Python, Bash, AWS CLI, Java, Golang and JavaScript
  • AI assisted software development experience is essential to this role
  • Participate in team planning activities, forecast project deadlines, completes projects based on agreed commitments
  • Based on observations and discussions with the team or leadership, a DevOps II must be able to finalize project details and create actionable project plans
  • Has a deep understanding of at least two (or more) critical AWS services
  • Effectively engages with engineers through comprehensive cloud systems knowledge
  • Understands “why” systems are implemented and can adjust the “how” to achieve an ideal state
  • Capable of implementing and supporting new technologies using AWS services such as EKS, MSK, OpenSearch, RDS, GitHub Actions, and ArgoCD
  • Proficiency with Kubernetes, HELM and Docker
  • Proficiency writing IaC and Configuration management using Terraform, and Git
  • Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions and ArgoCD
  • Proficiency with networking principles and technologies such as AWS networking tools,ALB’s, Security groups, VPC networking and basic containerized networking principles
  • Proficiency with logging, tracing and observability frameworks, such as OTEL, Sumologic, Honeycomb
  • Expert in Agile methodologies using tools such as Jira
  • Strong written and verbal skills that allow you to represent DevOps and support the community
  • Strong desire for automation

Responsibilities

  • Concurrent project work with a keen eye on proactive planning and development of technical approaches for Microservice Architecture working directly with, and guiding, Development teams to optimize a consistent and secure SDLC (40%)
  • Mentor junior level DevOps teammates and collaborate with Senior teammates to bring solutions to the table and curate project plans (15%)
  • Support the availability of all developed and managed services, Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) of Pax8 services including disaster recovery and continuity (15%)
  • Manage and maintain the security and access controls for supported services (10%)
  • Implements, deciphers, translates observability data into actionable information (10%)
  • Participate in on-call and support rotation (10%)

Preferred Qualifications

Database and replications skills including PSQL and NoSQL preferred
