Summary

Join PsiQuantum, a company building the first real, useful quantum computers, as a digital-hardware system-designer. You will contribute to the design of digital-logic systems driving our photonic quantum computer, working in a multi-technology environment. Responsibilities include devising algorithms and methods for time-critical tasks in the data-plane of an optical quantum computer, defining hardware primitives, translating high-level requirements into digital designs, and collaborating with digital designers to optimize designs. You will also create Python models for our simulation tool. This role requires a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a related field, 4+ years of relevant experience, strong problem-solving skills, and excellent communication skills. Preferred qualifications include distributed system experience, experience with Hardware Definition Languages (HDL) and High-Level Synthesis tools, and a background in photonics. Full-time roles are eligible for equity and benefits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related discipline
  • 4+ years of relevant work or academic research preferred
  • Strong critical thinking, creative, innovative, analytical, and detail oriented problem-solving skills
  • Team player with an ability to work effectively across departments and time-zones
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences
  • Confirmed python programmer who strives to write clear code in the context of a small team of contributors
  • You are pro-active, with the ability to work independently with limited direction, in a fast-moving start-up environment

Responsibilities

  • Devising algorithms and methods to solve various time-critical tasks which take place in the data-plane of an optical quantum computer and charting a path to their hardware implementation
  • Defining the hardware primitives for the algorithm
  • Gathering and translating high-level requirements into digital designs actionable by other digital-design experts
  • Working closely with digital designers to arbitrate design choices and optimize designs to meet algorithmic performance while matching latency, throughput and footprint constraints
  • Write python models to be integrated in our proprietary discrete-time-event simulation tool

Preferred Qualifications

  • Distributed system experience: involving event correlation from multiple sources, under real-time constraints
  • Worked with Hardware Definition Languages (e.g, VHDL, Verilog)
  • Worked with High Level Synthesis tools (e.g Xilinx Vitis)
  • Background in photonics

Benefits

Full time roles are eligible for equity and benefits
