Join dbt Labs as the Director of Accounting, reporting to the VP, Corporate Controller. Lead the accounting operations and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial statements. Manage the accounting team, spearhead process improvements, and scale the General Ledger and Accounts Payable teams globally. Requirements
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and experience with financial audits and external auditors
- Proficiency in accounting software and NetSuite, along with a track record of driving scalable systems and processes
- Proven leadership and communication skills with experience managing and developing high-performing, remote, and cross-functional teams
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment and consistently deliver high-quality results
- Hands-on approach with a proactive mindset, anticipating business needs and initiating projects to drive scalable systems and processes
Responsibilities
- Oversee daily accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with GAAP and other standards, while managing the General Ledger (GL) and Accounts Payable functions
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, driving improvements in financial systems and reporting, and ensuring robust internal controls and policies
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the accounting team, fostering collaboration, professional growth, and a high-performance culture
- Play a key role in M&A activities, including financial due diligence, integration planning, and coordination with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory agencies
- Prepare financial statements, management reports, and analyses to support strategic decision-making, while assessing and mitigating financial risks
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, filings, and reporting requirements, and manage the tax provision and return process in collaboration with external consultants
- Oversee stock-based compensation accounting, review monthly financial reporting packages, and identify variances for further analysis
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize financial processes and lead the implementation of accounting software and system improvements
- Facilitate global expansion initiatives by establishing new entities, managing international accounting practices, and overseeing intercompany transactions
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the software technology industry
- Knowledge of SOX compliance and internal control frameworks
- Experience in process automation and financial system implementation
- Experience working through rapid growth (ex. IPO to public company environment)
