Summary
Join Skillsoft as the Director, Sales β UK, and lead a team in driving top-line revenue and exceeding quota attainment. You will manage a team across acquisition, account management, or hybrid roles, focusing on customer growth and value. Responsibilities include hiring, coaching, and developing your team, ensuring pipeline health, and acting as a trusted advisor to clients. You will collaborate with marketing, customer success, and product teams to deliver customer outcomes and manage territory spend. The ideal candidate has proven success leading sales teams, experience in corporate learning or SaaS, and a customer-obsessed mindset. A Bachelor's degree is required, and an MBA is preferred.
Requirements
- Proven success in leading 6+ person sales teams to meet and exceed performance targets
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams across both new acquisition and customer expansion
- Experience shaping regional sales strategies and executing against them with commercial rigour
- Advanced capability in coaching and performance management
- Comfortable with data-driven decision making and use of sales technology platforms
- Collaborative approach with strong influencing skills across senior stakeholders and matrix functions
- Bachelorβs degree required; MBA preferred
Responsibilities
- Hire, coach, and lead a team across acquisition, account management or hybrid roles
- Drive quota attainment through strong leadership, clear goals, and ongoing development
- Establish clear ownership across the funnel β from prospecting to renewals
- Set and execute effective territory strategies based on customer needs
- Ensure pipeline health at 5x (new) and 3x (existing) opportunity coverage
- Support complex deal cycles with strategic oversight and coaching
- Embed consultative, solution-based selling across the team
- Align with sales ops on quota planning, forecasting, and data-driven decision making
- Act as a trusted advisor in customer digital transformation journeys
- Tailor and articulate the Skillsoft value proposition by segment and vertical
- Collaborate with marketing, customer success, and product to deliver customer outcomes
- Manage and improve gross margin performance across the territory
- Prioritise coaching through regular pipeline reviews and deal diagnostics
- Use technology and tools to boost productivity and insight
- Identify skill gaps, create development plans, and promote internal mobility
- Simplify processes to enable more selling time and fewer admin tasks
- Help evolve a modern, customer-centric sales model
- Support leadership on performance standards, role design, and succession planning
- Influence internal stakeholders to secure support for key deals and initiatives
- Monitor and manage territory spend for optimal coverage and ROI
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in corporate learning, digital transformation, or enterprise SaaS preferred
- Experience leading sales teams in education industry is preferred
