Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required
- 8+ years of experience in healthcare government and regulatory affairs, policy development, or related field
- Adept at managing complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives
- Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare regulatory frameworks, privacy, and interoperability regulations
- Proven track record of translating regulatory requirements into insights and business strategies
- Detail-oriented with a proven track record in project management
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate complex regulatory scenarios
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking experience
- Demonstrated success in building relationships with industry stakeholders
- Experience working with product, software engineering, and technology teams
Responsibilities
- Lead complex, multi-workstream initiatives involving regulatory analysis, stakeholder engagement, and product strategy development
- Monitor and critically evaluate emerging legislation, regulations, and industry initiatives affecting Datavant, its products and services, and its diverse customers across the healthcare ecosystem
- Develop comprehensive project plans and drive execution of the company's government affairs strategy in partnership with our lobbying group
- Develop and articulate policy positions that align with Datavant's business interests and product capabilities
- Create and maintain a "regulatory playbook" that standardizes approaches to regulatory requirements and guides product teams in consistent execution
- Lead the analysis and interpretation of regulatory frameworks that influence customer needs
- Translate complex regulatory requirements into functional product and service specifications
- Author white papers, public comments, and policy materials to influence government and industry stakeholders
- Represent Datavant in industry trade associations and policy workgroups
- Develop and execute stakeholder engagement strategies across multiple industry segments
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including policy and government affairs leaders at Datavantβs customers and strategic partners
- Contribute thought leadership to advance Datavant's position in the healthcare technology sector
- Develop and deliver educational content on regulatory trends and requirements for customers, staff, and leadership
- Partner with business leads, security, and product teams to identify opportunities and risks created by new policy proposals and regulatory requirements
- Define customer needs arising from regulatory changes and align them with Datavant's product capabilities
- Build feedback loops between executive leadership, product and technology teams, got-to-market, and policymakers to inform strategy
- Support the identification of new market opportunities driven by policy changes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure regulatory considerations are integrated into product and service development
- Support the design and implementation of compliance programs related to key policy frameworks and regulations
- Partner with legal and compliance teams to proactively share policy developments and regulatory requirements, and help develop and maintain relevant policies and procedures
- Manage the daily operations of our Political Action Committee including budget, receipts, contributions, and records
- Support compliance with all federal rules, guidelines, and laws working directly with internal and external vendors and consultants for company-wide political activity
Preferred Qualifications
- JD or Master's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Public Policy, Healthcare Administration, Health Policy)
- Previous experience in health information technology, health information interoperability, or digital health
- Recent published works or presentations in healthcare policy or regulatory affairs
- Experience with state or federal government relations or public policy development
