Summary
Join Kiva's Strategic Partnerships team as the Director and expand strategic partnerships focusing on major giving, cultivating individuals, and driving CEO and senior leadership individual giving strategy. You will support key Kiva constituents, particularly those with ties to high- and ultra-high net worth individuals (U/HNWI). The role requires generating at least $2 million in gifts annually and collaborating with various teams to ensure Kiva's case for support resonates with the U/HNWI audience. You will manage a portfolio of high-potential relationships, guide strategy development for the individual major giving program, and enhance stewardship for Kiva supporters. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of securing 6- and 7-figure gifts and extensive experience in nonprofit fundraising. Requirements
- Proven track record and knowledge base for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, stewarding, and closing 6- and 7-figure gifts
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate donor solicitations and successful donor pipeline management
- 5-7 years of diversified fundraising experience in a nonprofit environment, including capital campaigns, major gifts, annual gifts, and corporate philanthropy
- Enthusiastic and committed networker capable of serving as a passionate advocate for Kiva
- Independent, trustworthy, and able to maintain confidentiality
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including oral and written communication, listening abilities, and collaborative work ethic
- Experience working with G-Suite, Microsoft Office, and CRM platforms, specifically Salesforce, and other fundraising tools (DonorSearch, Wealth Engine, Marketing Cloud, etc.)
- Results and detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable juggling multiple priorities simultaneously
Responsibilities
- Qualify, develop, and maintain year-round relationships with a portfolio of 100-150 supporters or prospects to grow revenue and deposits through immediate funding, long-term funding, and planned gifts
- In support of the Senior Director and the larger Kiva leadership team serve as a primary fundraiser, building donor relationships through face-to-face cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activity
- Collaborate with other staff membersand volunteers to identify and engage major gift prospects, and to ensure that major gift activities are aligned with overall fundraising goals and priorities
- Create and deliver compelling proposals and presentations to major gift prospects and donors, including outlining specific programs or projects for funding, recognition opportunities, and other incentives
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of major gift prospects and donors, including tracking interactions, gifts, and progress towards fundraising goals
- Participate in fundraising planning and goal-setting activities, including contributing to the development of annual fundraising plans, budgets, and timelines
- Contribute to the development and execution of stewardship strategies for major gift donors, including ensuring timely and meaningful recognition of gifts and ongoing communication about the impact of their contributions
- Represent Kiva externally with poise and professionalism
- Develop and implement lead generation strategies for identifying, cultivating, and soliciting major gifts from individual donors and organizations
- Identify and pursue thought leadership opportunities for high net worth donors and key advisors (community foundations, philanthropic and financial advisors, etc) such as articles, sponsored content, conference presentations, etc
- Contribute to Kivaβs strategy for effectively engaging Donor-Advised Funds, Philanthropic Advisors, and other Gatekeepers
- Stay current on trends and best practices in major gifts fundraising, including attending professional development opportunities and participating in relevant networks and associations
- Partner with Kivaβs product team to help optimize website user experience, online communications, and product offerings for major donors and U/HNWI
- Plan and guide senior leadership fundraising efforts with individuals, stepping in as needed to support and move gifts toward close
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with individual fundraising and major giving in the international development context
- Minimum 8 years of work experience in fast-paced, growth-oriented organization(s), specifically in a non-profit major giving role and/or as a generalist fundraiser
- Comfortable leveraging multiple SaaS platforms (Slack, Figma, Jira, Asana, Marketing Cloud) to optimize team efficiency and collaboration
- Familiar with digital and mass marketing for HNWI
- Working knowledge of planned gifts
- Past experience living or working internationally, particularly in a developing country context
