Director of Data Science

Join Omnidian, a fast-growing tech-enabled service company, as their Director of Data Science. Lead a small team in building and operationalizing data science technology integral to daily operations. This role directly impacts product development, service delivery, and clean energy adoption. You will lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team, developing and executing the data science roadmap. Responsibilities include integrating predictive and prescriptive analytics into core technology, architecting data pipelines and ML models, and collaborating with other teams. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership, technical expertise, and cross-functional collaboration skills, with a passion for clean energy.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics) or equivalent practical experience; advanced degree is a plus
• 7+ years of experience in data science, with a proven track record of building and deploying models in a production environment
• 4+ years of experience in data science leadership, building and managing data science teams
• Proven experience building and scaling data science teams from the ground up
• Deep expertise in machine learning, statistical modeling, and experimental design
• Strong programming skills in Python and expertise with a relevant data science stacks (e.g., pandas, etc)
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP) and big data technologies (e.g., Apache Spark)
• Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
• Passion for clean energy and a strong desire to contribute to a mission-driven company

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of data scientists and ML engineers
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and rapid delivery
• Develop and execute the data science roadmap and strategy, aligned with company goals
• Set clear priorities and measure impact against KPIs
• Integrate predictive and prescriptive analytics into core technology and processes
• Architect and oversee scalable, production-ready data pipelines and ML models
• Collaborate with Engineering, Product, and Operations to prioritize and execute high-value opportunities
• Serve as a subject matter expert in renewable energy data science
• Represent Omnidian at industry events, conferences, and with key stakeholders
• Advocate for best practices in data science and ML deployment
• Engage directly with clients to understand needs, present insights, and demonstrate value
