Director of Engineering

Summary

Join Galileo, a leading financial technology company, as a Director of Engineering to spearhead the technical strategy and development of our next-generation banking platform, Cyberbank Core. This impactful leadership role involves building services, infrastructure, and data pipelines for a lean core banking platform. You will drive the design and delivery of scalable, performant, and secure banking products, managing multiple teams and aligning cross-functional stakeholders. The position requires attracting, retaining, and developing top-tier engineering talent while fostering a culture of technical excellence. You will ensure reliable, secure, and scalable engineering practices, and drive the design and implementation of SaaS services and data engineering pipelines. Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent experience
• 10+ years in software engineering, including 5+ years of proven experience in leadership roles, preferably within mobile and web domain, including backend
• Deep expertise in designing and managing cloud-based solutions with a strong focus on resiliency
• Strong understanding of agile development principles and tools
• Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across teams
• Experience with AWS (or other public cloud infra) and modern stacks
• Experience working in a regulated industry
• Bi-Lingual Spanish/English is a MUST

Responsibilities

• Own the technical vision and delivery execution
• Collaborate closely with product, design, and other engineering leaders to align work with business needs
• Ensure the codebase and platform supports rapid product development across multiple products and geographies while maintaining quality, compliance, and operational excellence
• Attract, retain, and develop top-tier engineering talent
• Foster a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and customer-centric thinking
• Manage multiple remote engineering teams across platform and framework domains
• Ensure reliable, secure, and scalable engineering practices
• Drive the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and highly available SaaS services and data engineering pipelines

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working on banking backends, particularly cores/ledgers, is a plus
