Summary

This remote position, reporting to the Chief Impact Officer, requires managing a team ensuring validation and verification of carbon offset projects globally. Requirements
- Have at least a bachelor’s degree in a related field, which could include Industrial or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or Sustainability. Degrees related to policy, government, or law are also desirable
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in carbon project development, carbon offset protocols, carbon markets, and working with carbon offset registries, with a strong preference for ODS or methane carbon projects
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, and comfort communicating about very technical subject matter
- An exceptional ability to pay attention to details is essential
- A demonstrated ability to work independently in a professional environment
- Strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work collaboratively and proactively with multiple stakeholders
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and strong analytical skills
- Comfort negotiating contracts and speaking persuasively on behalf of Tradewater
- A project management and process-oriented approach to all work, and the patience to tolerate bureaucratic processes
- The ability to manage a wide variety of activities in multiple countries at the same time
- Resiliency and flexibility to evolving conditions and a dynamic work environment
- Availability to travel as required to countries in which Tradewater develops projects, roughly 20% of the time
- Ability to remain level-headed in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities
- Manage and lead a small team of trained professionals responsible for ensuring the successful validation and verification of Tradewater’s carbon offset projects
- Work as part of a team of professionals to build a pipeline of projects that will identify, collect, and destroy harmful refrigerants and prevent the release of methane all over the world
- Lead company efforts to revise existing carbon offset protocols and develop new methodologies as regulations change and as science dictates
- Anticipate strategic opportunities to engage with new or evolving methodologies and carbon registries globally, in ways that allow Tradewater to expand our reach and impact
- Build systems and processes to ensure that all of Tradewater’s carbon offset projects are effectively validated and verified in a timely manner according to recognized protocols and established methodologies. This includes managing the preparation of appropriate evidence and documentation for each project, leading meetings with external stakeholders, and coordinating the development and submission of validation and verification reports
- Build and manage a network of third-party partnerships in order to support Tradewater's verification needs, including registries and verifiers
- Expand Tradewater’s network of laboratories and hazardous waste management facilities
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure that projects are developed and implemented in ways that ensure successful validation and verification of the work. This includes developing standard operating procedures for certain activities, coordinating research and analysis and other processes in different countries around the world, and deeply understanding and interpreting relevant carbon offset protocols and methodologies
- In cooperation with the Data and Analytics team, ensure Tradewater uses appropriate document management systems, databases, and forms to make the verification process as efficient and effective as possible
- Support teams at Tradewater as needed to confirm that destruction facilities and methane abatement processes meet international protocols and meet the standards of all applicable carbon offset registries
- Oversee all department transactions associated with verifiers, registries, and contractors
- Create and share detailed reports with stakeholders of all levels within and outside of the organization, including C-Suite/executive level stakeholders
- Develop and implement long-term and annual plans aligned with Supply Team efforts
- Define, measure, and report to the CIO on key performance metrics for the department
- Utilize current information to strategically plan the department activities to meet or exceed company deliverables and goals
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in other countries or working on projects or teams that span multiple countries
- Proficiency in at least one language other than English; with a preference for Spanish, French, German, Arabic, Thai or Bahasa
