ELA Content Writer

Summary

Join IXL Learning's content development team as a remote, 1099 contractor for three months (with possible extension) to create engaging language arts content for elementary school students (grades PK-5). You will collaborate with editors and curriculum designers to develop reading comprehension and writer's craft activities. This role requires exceptional writing skills, strong research abilities, and the capacity to manage multiple projects efficiently. The ideal candidate possesses a BA/BS degree in a related field and prior professional writing experience (educational or YA content preferred). Requirements

• BA/BS degree, preferably in English, creative writing, or a related field
• Exceptional writing skills, including a finely tuned sense of English grammar and usage
• Strong critical-thinking, research, and problem-solving skills
• The ability to be efficient and organized while working on multiple projects
• Previous professional writing experience (educational or YA content preferred)

Responsibilities

• Research informational topics of interest to a school-aged audience
• Write sentences, paragraphs, and longer passages for use in online activities
• Craft questions, answers, and explanations based on guidelines and samples
• Adhere to conventions in The Chicago Manual of Style and an in-house style guide
• Accept and implement feedback
