Summary

Join Equivity as a skilled paralegal supporting attorneys nationwide in elder law matters. You will provide high-level virtual support, enjoying remote work flexibility. Key responsibilities include drafting elder law documents, assisting with Medicaid planning, preparing court documents, conducting legal research, maintaining case files, and coordinating with various agencies. The ideal candidate possesses a Bachelor’s degree, at least three years of relevant experience, proficiency in relevant software, and excellent communication and organizational skills. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of three years of experience working in a law firm supporting attorneys in elder law matters, including Medicaid planning, guardianships, long-term care, probate, and estate planning
  • Be able to operate with significant independence
  • Be responsible for maintaining timely communication with clients between 9 am – 6 pm

Responsibilities

  • Draft and prepare elder law documents, including powers of attorney, advance healthcare directives, revocable and irrevocable trusts, and related estate planning documents
  • Assist with Medicaid planning and application processes, including gathering financial documentation and preparing required forms
  • Prepare and file guardianship petitions, annual accountings, and other related court documents
  • Support attorneys with probate matters, including preparing petitions, notices, and inventories, and ensuring compliance with court deadlines
  • Conduct legal research related to elder law, Medicaid regulations, probate, and long-term care planning
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date case files, ensuring all deadlines and court requirements are met
  • Coordinate with government agencies, financial institutions, and healthcare providers to obtain necessary records and information
  • Communicate professionally and compassionately with elderly clients and their families to support ongoing legal matters
  • Track important case deadlines, manage calendars, and support attorneys with day-to-day case management tasks
  • Uphold the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism in all client interactions and documentation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using elder law or estate planning software such as HotDocs or Wealth Counsel
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Adobe, and legal case management software such as Clio
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational ability, and attention to detail
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment and managing multiple cases simultaneously
  • Quiet, professional home office setup suitable for client and team calls
