Summary

Join our team as an Electronic Healthcare Application Architect and play a pivotal role in designing, documenting, and validating enterprise healthcare applications, primarily focusing on Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. You will ensure system architecture aligns with industry standards and regulatory requirements, collaborating with various teams to create comprehensive technical documentation and define integration strategies. This remote position requires expertise in application architecture, EHR systems, and healthcare integrations, along with strong communication and collaboration skills. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in healthcare IT and a deep understanding of relevant regulations and security frameworks. This is a 12+ month contract position located in Raleigh, NC.

Requirements

  • Have Epic Client Systems Administrator (ECSA) experience
  • Hold a Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, or related field
  • Possess proficiency in application documentation methodologies, technical writing, and validation processes
  • Have experience in healthcare IT application architecture, EHR systems, or enterprise healthcare applications
  • Have experience with HL7, FHIR, APIs, and healthcare system integrations
  • Have knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and HITRUST security frameworks
  • Have the ability to create detailed technical diagrams, flowcharts, and architecture blueprints
  • Have 5 years of Epic Client Systems Administrator (ECSA) experience
  • Have 4 years of experience with a Bachelorโ€™s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, or related field
  • Have 5 years of experience with proficiency in application documentation methodologies, technical writing, and validation processes
  • Have 5 years of experience in healthcare IT application architecture, EHR systems, or enterprise healthcare applications
  • Have 5 years of experience with HL7, FHIR, APIs, and healthcare system integrations
  • Have 7 years of experience with knowledge of HIPAA, HITECH, and HITRUST security frameworks
  • Have 5 years of experience with the ability to create detailed technical diagrams, flowcharts, and architecture blueprints

Responsibilities

  • Design scalable and secure architectures for healthcare applications, including EHR, clinical, and ancillary systems
  • Develop best practices for application development, integration, and interoperability
  • Ensure system architectures comply with HIPAA, HITECH, and other regulatory requirements
  • Guide teams on system design, ensuring high availability, performance, and reliability
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation for EHR applications, including workflows, integration points, and system configurations
  • Create detailed functional and technical specifications for new and existing applications
  • Validate system configurations against clinical and operational workflows to ensure optimal performance
  • Work closely with QA teams to develop and execute application validation testing strategies
  • Define and document integration architecture between EHR and third-party applications
  • Oversee FHIR, HL7, API-based interfaces, and data exchange strategies
  • Ensure seamless interoperability between systems, including lab, imaging, pharmacy, and billing applications
  • Collaborate with IT Security to enforce data protection, encryption, and access control policies
  • Ensure compliance with ONC Health IT Certification, CMS, and Joint Commission standards
  • Document and validate security measures to safeguard patient health information (PHI)
  • Work closely with clinical, operational, and IT stakeholders to align application architectures with business needs
  • Provide technical leadership to developers, analysts, and support teams
  • Train and mentor IT staff on application architecture principles and documentation best practices

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have Epic Certification in Security, Bridges, or Integration
  • Have strong experience in EHR platforms (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or similar)
  • Have experience with ServiceNow, ITSM processes, and change management
  • Have familiarity with cloud-based healthcare architectures (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Healthcare APIs)
  • Have 5 years of experience with Epic Certification in Security, Bridges, or Integration
  • Have 7 years of experience with strong experience in EHR platforms (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or similar)
  • Have 5 years of experience with ServiceNow, ITSM processes, and change management
  • Have 5 years of experience with familiarity with cloud-based healthcare architectures (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Healthcare APIs)
