Summary
Join Western Digital's HDD Electronics Team as an Embedded Systems Engineer. Develop C++ firmware for System on Chip (SoC) ASICs controlling complex electro-mechanical subsystems. Utilize state-of-the-art prototyping platforms to transform new technologies into industry-leading products. Demonstrate functionality of new technologies. The ideal candidate possesses strong firmware development skills and electronics knowledge. A BS or MS in Electrical or Computer Engineering is required, along with specific training and knowledge in embedded systems, processors, and debugging.
Requirements
- BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
- Knowledge of embedded systems
- Training in embedded C/C++ firmware and basic scripting using Python or TCL
- Knowledge of ARM processors, SAS, SATA, PCIe, UFS, DDR3 & DDR4 DRAM, SPI Flash, and NAND Flash
- Training in firmware debug using In-Circuit probes
- Training in schematic analysis of printed circuit boards
- Training in hardware debug using oscilloscopes, signal generators, logic analyzers, and bus analyzers
- Structured problem solving
- Strong Communication, especially the ability to provide clear and concise summaries of complex problems
Responsibilities
- Develop C++ firmware for System On Chip (SoC) ASICβs that control complex, electro-mechanical subsystems
- Use state-of-the-art prototyping platforms to transform new technologies into industry leading products and be the first to demonstrate their functionality
