Engineering Manager

Summary

Join LTK as a Manager, Engineering and lead a core-tech backend squad responsible for notifications in shopper and creator apps. You will manage the team's day-to-day activities within an Agile environment, contributing to software development throughout the product lifecycle. This leadership role involves hiring, performance management, and employee development, focusing on growing leaders and minimizing retention risks. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, prioritize work, and contribute to the technical vision. The ideal candidate possesses extensive backend development experience, leadership skills, and familiarity with various technologies and tools. Requirements

• At least 2+ years in leadership roles with a proven and consistent history of leading developers
• Servant leader used to being hands-on and supporting their team, including participating in on call rotation with their team
• Proven experience in rapid, continuous releases, used to shipping multiple times a day
• Proven success as a senior-level developer in a backend team
• Able to drive productivity and motivate a team to full project completion
• 6+ years with software backend systems, architectures and infrastructure
• Experience with data architecture, data processing tools and reporting technologies
• History of building highly scalable distributed systems and processes in a cloud environment
• Experience writing services in Go, Python, C++, or Java
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, system monitors, and log aggregation services
• Experience with AWS services such as ECS, Lambda, RDS, Redshift, Glue (among others)
• Expertise in working with various data storage technologies, including relational databases, NoSQL databases (like Hadoop HDFS, Apache Cassandra), and columnar databases
• Experience with relational and time series databases
• Have built scalable internal and public-facing APIs (RESTful, JSON, HTTP)
• Experience integrating 3rd party API's (REST, OAuth)
• Experience designing extensible systems that are used as a platform or foundational service
• Knowledge of microservices architecture and related technologies
• Familiarity with agile methods and familiarity with Scrum or Kanban frameworks
• Comfortable shipping code multiple times per day

Responsibilities

• Manage the team that delivers millions of notifications to both consumers and Creators
• Contribute to the development, reviews, and maintenance of new features, product requirements documents, technical design documents, and functional specifications
• Influence the technical vision for your department through discussions with peers and senior management
• Take an active role in hiring, goal setting, performance management, promotions, and retention strategies across your team
• Minimize retention risks and create effective development plans to prepare employees for their next role
• You focus on growing leaders – emphasizing all aspects of the employee lifecycle (recruiting, onboarding, performance management, and employee development)
• Work with leaders across the organization as a core-tech service owner to understand how your team’s changes impact upstream and downstream services
• Obtain buy-in and adoption across the organization for changes in the foundation of LTK that will drive our long-term business and technical strategy
• Work with the team and stakeholders to break down and prioritize work to reduce technical debt
• Contribute to the development, reviews, and maintenance of new features, product requirements documents, technical design documents, and functional specifications
• Participate in the on-call rotation with your team
• Partner with senior management to identify appropriate metrics to monitor team performance
• Influence the technical vision for your department through discussions with peers and senior management
• Identify and pursue improvements in engineering and organizational process, gathering and using data to support and guide continuous growth in product excellence and engineering productivity
