Requirements
- Have 10+ years of software development experience, with at least 3 years in a staff leadership or management role
- Have deep expertise in SQL, Python or analogous back-end language and API frameworks, with a strong understanding of scalable data architectures
- Have real-world experience with APIs and integrating third-party services (e.g., Google, Meta APIs)
- Have operated in a continuous integration environment focused on rapid iteration, frequent incremental changes, and swift feedback loops
- Have strong leadership and communication skills, with a focus on collaboration and results-driven outcomes
- Have experience with cloud platforms, containerized architectures, and scalable SaaS platforms
- Have expertise in monitoring performance metrics and using data to ensure high productivity and product quality
- Have a track record of owning engineering projects and delivering measurable business impact
- Have a passion for leveraging technology to drive innovation, inspire new ways of thinking, and lead creative problem-solving across teams
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a dedicated team of backend and data engineers responsible for ingesting, processing, and delivering large-scale data from various integrations
- Be a visionary engineering leader who enjoys shaping the strategic direction of teams and projects
- Have experience building data pipelines and orchestration at scale
- Be product-focused with a proven track record in building and scaling data platforms or enterprise data-driven applications with a focus on speed and quality
- Be a hands-on technical leader and subject matter expert in application development, databases, APIs, and third-party integrations
- Be committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse engineering culture, encouraging collaboration and innovation
- Be data-driven, using metrics to make informed decisions and drive continuous improvement
- Be a champion of best practices in test-driven development, CI/CD, and software delivery
- Manage competing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Have direct knowledge in our technology stack: Google Cloud Platform, Airflow, dbt, Spark, PostgreSQL, BigQuery, Iceberg
- Have experience expanding software engineering teams either directly or as part of a leadership team
- Have familiarity with agile methodologies and continuous delivery practices
- Have experience implementing observability and monitoring frameworks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog) and reporting on system KPIs
- Have knowledge of modern data governance, data cataloging, and compliance best practices
