Summary

Join Axonius and lead the Exposures Team in a critical new initiative, focusing on identifying, analyzing, and contextualizing vulnerabilities across complex environments. This hands-on leadership role blends cybersecurity, threat intelligence, and deep technical systems understanding. You will build detection capabilities, integrate with EDRs and other telemetry sources, and deliver insights to empower security teams. Guide the team in vulnerability analysis, detection logic, protocol parsing, and data enrichment, collaborating with data scientists, product managers, and platform engineers. Drive architectural decisions and work with security researchers and threat intelligence teams. This role requires hands-on coding, debugging, and validation, along with influencing the product roadmap. Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience managing a technical, hands-on engineering team
  • 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, systems programming, or vulnerability research
  • Deep understanding of operating system internals (Linux, Windows), protocols (e.g., SMB, RDP, SSH, HTTP/S), and common misconfigurations
  • Strong familiarity with CVEs, CWE classifications, MITRE ATT&CK, and vulnerability management processes
  • Experience integrating with EDRs, XDRs, or other endpoint telemetry sources
  • Hands-on development experience in Python (required)

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of Axonius’ exposure and vulnerability insights engine - a new area in the platform
  • Build integrations with endpoint protection solutions (EDRs) and agent-based data collectors
  • Develop mechanisms to analyze and interpret system, application, and network logs to detect misconfigurations, exposures, and vulnerabilities
  • Guide the implementation of logic and heuristics to detect protocol-level and software vulnerabilities (e.g., misconfigured services, outdated versions)
  • Mentor and lead a team of engineers focused on deep system analysis, detection logic, and cyber domain expertise
  • Drive architectural decisions in data enrichment, processing, and scalable detection pipelines
  • Collaborate with security researchers and threat intelligence teams to feed emerging vulnerabilities into detection systems
  • Be hands-on: write code, debug complex environments, and validate detections at the system level
  • Participate in and influence the product roadmap related to Axonius’ exposures module

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience analyzing logs and system artifacts (Sysmon, audited, system logs, etc.) - Advantage
  • Strong background in parsing structured and unstructured data (JSON, logs, binary protocols)
  • Comfortable in modern cloud-native and distributed architectures
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally in a dynamic environment
  • Bonus : Experience in building detection-as-code frameworks or contributing to security tooling projects
