Summary
Join New Era Technology as an Enterprise Database Administrator (DBA) to administer, optimize, and maintain the organizationβs database environments. Ensure the performance, availability, integrity, and security of all critical databases across on-premises and cloud-hosted systems. Collaborate with application owners, data analysts, and infrastructure teams to tune SQL performance, improve query efficiency, and implement best practices. Support both operational and strategic database initiatives and collaborate with the Enterprise Architecture team to ensure alignment with design standards and enterprise data strategy. This role requires strong technical knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise, performance tuning expertise, and high availability and disaster recovery planning skills. Requirements
- 5+ years of experience administering Microsoft SQL Server in an enterprise environment
- Strong proficiency in T-SQL, execution plans, and query analysis
- Experience with Always On Availability Groups, replication, and other HA/DR methods
- Familiarity with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Reporting Services (SSRS), and SQL Agent job management
- Proven experience optimizing database performance in both OLTP and OLAP environments
- Bachelorβs degree in information technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or related field
- Experience working within structured IT frameworks and architecture standards
- Understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements (e.g., SOX, HIPAA, GDPR) for data platforms
Responsibilities
- Administer, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server Enterprise environments (on-premises and cloud)
- Monitor database performance and proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks through indexing, query tuning, and resource optimization
- Write and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and views to support application and reporting needs
- Implement and maintain high availability, disaster recovery (HA/DR), and backup strategies using tools such as Always On, Log Shipping, and SQL Agent Jobs
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architects to ensure database systems follow standard architecture principles and scalability models
- Maintain database security, including user access, encryption, and audit logging, in compliance with security and compliance requirements
- Conduct database health checks, capacity planning, and usage trend analysis
- Support data migrations, schema changes, and application deployments involving database components
- Automate routine tasks through scripting (T-SQL, PowerShell, etc)
- Provide on-call support for production issues, including root cause analysis and remediation
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to cloud-hosted SQL environments (e.g., Azure SQL, AWS RDS) is a plus
- Familiarity with Agile or DevOps practices is a plus
- Working knowledge of other database engines such as MySQL adds flexibility in supporting diverse application stacks
- Microsoft certifications preferred (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, MCSA: SQL Server)
- Familiarity with ITIL change management practices is a plus
