Summary
Join the International Refugee Assistance Project (IRAP) as a summer intern in the Evaluation & Learning (E&L) department! This role offers the chance to support data collection, analysis, and reporting, contributing to IRAP's mission of assisting refugees. You will work on client feedback systems, data quality, and research projects. The internship can be remote or in-person in Washington D.C. or New York City. Requirements
- Have work authorization in the United States for application for an internship
- Experience in roles communicating directly with clients or customers (this includes roles in customer service)
- Experience with data entry and cleaning
- Be extremely detail oriented
- Have the ability to handle information with high standards of confidentiality and privacy
- Be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
- Have a strong interest in refugee processing, immigration law, human rights, and evaluation
- This is a full-time internship and requires a 10-week commitment
Responsibilities
- Support IRAP’s client feedback systems, including: Conduct feedback phone interviews with clients, using interpreters as necessary
- Support IRAP’s client feedback systems, including: Coordinate weekly translation and review of client feedback responses
- Support IRAP’s client feedback systems, including: Support implementing improvements to IRAPs client feedback tools and processes
- Support IRAP’s data quality and analysis across the organization, including: Review data in our systems for accuracy and completeness
- Support IRAP’s data quality and analysis across the organization, including: Update and clean records and data sets
- Support IRAP’s data quality and analysis across the organization, including: Compile summary reports
- Support IRAP’s data quality and analysis across the organization, including: Conduct basic qualitative and quantitative analysis on data sets
- Support desk research on topics related to displacement and immigration trends and policies
- General support for Evaluation and Learning Department on other projects (e.g. Theory of Change (TOC) development, internal and external reporting, mapping out tracking needs for new work)
Preferred Qualifications
- Be a graduate student studying Non Profit Evaluation, Public Administration, Data Analytics or Statistics, Public Policy or similar, or be an undergraduate student with relevant education and experience
- Have experience with or knowledge of trauma-informed best practices for interviewing clients
- Have experience or comfort communicating with interpreters
- Have experience handling large datasets and basic to intermediate skills in data analysis
- Be comfortable with form builders and database/CRM/case management systems (Salesforce is ideal)
- Have knowledge or experience of trauma-informed best practices for interviewing clients
- Have comfort or experience communicating with interpreters
- Have the ability to speak English and a second language (Arabic, Dari, Farsi, Somali, Pashto, Tigrinya, Kurdish, or Spanish) at or above professional working proficiency ( ILR 3 )
Benefits
- Paid internship where students are compensated $16 per hour (or intern’s state minimum wage to be applied) for 40 hours per week
