Summary
Join Automattic, a global leader in publishing, messaging, and commerce software, as a Financial Data Engineer. You will build and maintain robust data systems, developing reliable data pipelines, analysis, and visualizations for financial reporting and business insights. Collaborate with various teams to transform complex financial data into actionable information. Responsibilities include building and maintaining ETL processes, reporting tools, and dashboards. This role requires strong SQL proficiency, programming skills, data visualization expertise, and a deep understanding of data warehousing. Requirements
- Proficiency in using SQL for data extraction, wrangling, and synthesis into information
- Experience in at least one programming language (Python, Scala, Javascript, PHP)
- Expertise in telling stories with data and fluency in building with at least one data visualization tool (e.g. Looker, Superset, Tableau)
- Experience working with large datasets
- Strong understanding of data warehousing and data modeling concepts
- Experience with ETL processes and data pipeline development
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking abilities, with a keen attention to detail
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain robust and reliable extract, transform, load (ETL) pipelines for financial data
- Continually improve ongoing reporting and analysis processes, automating or simplifying self-service support for customers
- Work closely with analytics engineers, software developers, finance and accounting teams, and other business stakeholders to solve unique business problems
- Build and deliver high-quality data solutions to support analysts, engineers, and data scientists
- Design and build metrics/dimensions to monitor product and business performance
- Build and maintain high-quality and reliable data visualizations/dashboards, and communicate insights broadly
- Maintain and extend our internal tool used to report business metrics
- Monitor and maintain the quality and integrity of financial data
Preferred Qualifications
- Understanding of the SaaS business model
- Experience in or working with finance and accounting teams, with a focus on topline metrics and revenue/revenue recognition
- Experience working within a version control system (Git, Phabricator)
- Experience using AI tools to support and augment your own data engineering efficiency
