Firewall Engineer

Join our rapidly expanding team as a Firewall Engineer and contribute to building the infrastructure that propels access, inclusion, and the democratization of financial services. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supporting and managing firewalls environment, designing and supporting network infrastructure, and ensuring compliance with organizational security rules and standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in information technology-related field of study with a network engineering focus
• Fortinet/Palo Alto certified – advantage
• Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware and firewalls
• Ability to think through problems and visualize solutions
• Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewalls, routers, switches, controllers
• Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols
• Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems
• Ability to work with all levels of IT staff
• Good analytical and problem-solving skills
• Dependable and flexible when necessary
• Network security experience
• LAN and WAN experience

Responsibilities

• Performs system-level design, configuration, integration, and implementation of perimeter security products, including firewalls (Palo-Alto & Fortinet), proxy devices, routers, and WAF solutions
• Ensures compliance with organizational secularist rules and standards
• Assist with monitoring and auditing of information systems activities and systems to confirm information security policy and provide management with security policy compliance assessments and system monitoring reports
• Identify configuration or policy flaws and gaps that increase risk or violate information security requirements
• Perform validation of the firewall rules to verify that it meets the requirements
• Provide technical guidance and security policy regarding firewall design best practices
• Managing upgrade patches for Palo Alto and Fortinet products
• Configure and install various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, VPN, QoS , IP routing - BGP)
• Perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including service packs, patches, hotfixes, and security configurations
• Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability
• Monitor system resource utilization, trending, and capacity planning
• Provide Level-2/3 support and troubleshooting to resolve issues
• Work within established configuration and change management policies to ensure awareness, approval, and success of changes made to the network infrastructure
• Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company’s security team
• Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem-resolution
