Firmware Lead Engineer

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; Master’s or advanced degree preferred. Equivalent practical experience considered
• 7+ years of leadership experience in hardware-integrated software testing roles such as embedded systems, firmware, or consumer electronics, both manual and automated
• Proven experience creating test strategies and test plans that meet business requirements, as well as testing analytics and KPIs
• Expertise in QA automation with a strong command of Python
• Knowledge of C/C++ to write some tests in this language using the Nucleo board
• Demonstrated excellence in stakeholder management and collaboration, with the ability to influence decisions and drive QA strategies across functions within 3Pillar and with external partners
• Strong business acumen, with an understanding of industry trends, standards, and the competitive landscape, leveraging this insight to inform strategic QA decisions
• Exceptional problem-solving skills, with a systematic approach to tackling complex issues and the initiative to continuously enhance technical and leadership skills
• Highly developed communication skills, proficient in engaging with senior management, stakeholders, and external partners to advocate for quality assurance excellence and influence strategic directions

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of firmware testing professionals for a power control product (unit, integration and system testing)
• Participate on overall testing strategy both for manual and automated testing and generate relevant technical documentation
• Create and automate test plans using Python/Robot or other tools as necessary, including custom STM32 Nucleo boards
• Design and implement software emulators for individual components and validate them against real hardware and field conditions
• Implement Hardware-in-the-loop testing solutions combining physical and simulated components
• Together with other team members design and execute complex multi-parameter test scenarios, accelerated life testing and reliability assessments and voltage, frequency, and phase-related test scenarios
• Perform deep performance analysis and optimization studies
• Apply statistical methods to test data analysis and quality predictions

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional QA certifications (ISTQB Advanced Level, CSTE) or certifications in project management (PMP, Agile/Scrum certifications)
• Experience with web interface testing using Selenium or other framework is a plus
• Proven ability in strategic thinking and decision-making, with a forward-looking approach to QA leadership, ensuring alignment with emerging technologies and industry trends
• Outstanding leadership and team development skills, capable of mentoring, coaching, and inspiring a diverse team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
• Comprehensive knowledge of current and emerging testing tools, methodologies, and best practices, with the ability to implement these to drive efficiency and effectiveness in QA processes
