Senior Machine Learning Engineer

Summary

Requirements

• 5+ years experience as an Machine Learning Engineer, Applied Scientist, or similar role
• BS or MS in Computer Science or another quantitative field
• Strong proficiency in one or more common languages (e.g., Python, Java, C++, Golang)
• Proficiency with common ML tools and frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Spark)
• Experience building applications with LLMs / MLLMs
• Proven experience with the E2E ML application development

Responsibilities

• Lead zero-to-one AI initiatives, collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop innovative AI products from scratch
• Apply cutting-edge technologies, including generative AI and LLMs, leveraging the latest industry and academic research
• Design, build, and optimize ML systems, ensuring scalability and efficiency across the end-to-end pipeline
• Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading a small cross-functional team to deliver new ML experiences
• Experience building zero-to-one Generative AI applications
• Experience modeling with a variety of data types including sensor data
