Founding Engineer

Summary

Join Viewpoints AI, a PearX-backed startup, as our Founding Engineer. You will play a pivotal role in building our study simulation platform from the ground up, making critical architectural decisions and setting the technical direction. As our first engineering hire, you'll enjoy significant autonomy and directly impact the company's foundation. You will architect and implement the core simulation engine, define the technical roadmap, and build both frontend and backend systems. You'll also establish the engineering culture and work closely with founders to translate product vision into technical reality. This is a ground-floor opportunity with significant equity ownership and the chance to lead the engineering team.

Requirements

• 7+ years of full stack development experience with a track record of scaling systems
• Strong technical leadership experience and ability to make architectural decisions
• Expertise with LLM APIs and AI system integration
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and scalability challenges
• Experience building production systems from scratch
• Track record of owning projects end-to-end
• Comfort with ambiguity and ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment

Responsibilities

• Architect and implement the core simulation engine that powers multiple concurrent study scenarios
• Define our technical roadmap and make critical infrastructure decisions
• Build and scale both frontend and backend systems from first principles
• Create the development playbook and engineering culture for future team members
• Work directly with founders to translate product vision into technical reality
• Evolve our backend architecture to support scalable study simulations across multiple personas and users
• Develop robust statistical analysis capabilities for simulation depth and breadth
• Create an intuitive frontend experience that makes our platform accessible and efficient
• Implement core platform features including authentication, rate limiting, and security measures
• Optimize LLM API integrations for performance and cost efficiency
