Summary

The job is for a Front-End Designer at Echo&Co, a human-centered creative and technology firm dedicated to doing good in the world. The role involves designing and coding production-ready HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for social sector organizations. The position requires 2+ years of experience in creating digital brand experiences and web design products, expertise in HTML, CSS/SCSS, and JavaScript, and a strong portfolio of creative work.

Requirements

• Degree and/or certification (or equivalent) in graphic design, web design, computer science, or a related field
• 2+ years experience creating digital brand experiences and web design products
• 2+ years experience with HTML, CSS/SCSS, and JavaScript
• A strong portfolio of creative work for digital channels: desktop and mobile web, applications, email, and social media
• Experience producing clean, reusable, semantic, accessible, performant, and mobile-optimized front-end code
• Experience making in-browser style guides and pattern libraries with tools like Storybook
• Experience using HTML templating languages like Twig
• Experience with varying CSS methodologies and front-end frameworks such as OOCSS, SMACSS, Atomic CSS, Twitter Bootstrap, Zurb Foundation, etc
• Experience using build tools such as Webpack and Node/NPM

Responsibilities

• Design and code in-browser design systems in the form of a pattern library
• Design and code responsive, accessible and maintainable HTML/CSS/JS prototypes
• Create design deliverables that align with client needs, are delivered on-time, and are of the highest quality
• Collaborate with client services, design, user experience, and technology leads to define and manage project scope, ensuring successful execution of design and front-end work

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity in PHP-based open source CMS platforms (Drupal, Wordpress) and an understanding of their integration with common nonprofit and e-commerce web technologies
• Experience with modern javascript frameworks such as Vue, React, or Angular
