Frontend Engineer, Release Monitoring

Summary

Join LaunchDarkly's Release Monitoring team as an experienced Frontend Engineer to build a new product line focused on making software releases safer, faster, and more reliable. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners, drive end-to-end feature development, proactively identify product improvements, mentor teammates, and contribute to code and architecture reviews. The role involves advancing engineering standards and staying current with frontend development trends. You will leverage LaunchDarkly's Observability SDKs to measure user impact and make informed release decisions. This position requires 5+ years of frontend development experience with proficiency in modern JavaScript libraries and data-focused product development.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software development experience with a focus on frontend development, or equivalent demonstrable skills and experience
• Proficiency with modern JavaScript libraries and tooling, such as React
• Experience building data-focused products such as experimentation platforms, analytics dashboards, or large-scale data visualizations
• Proficient in designing, implementing, and maintaining RESTful APIs
• Experience working directly with customers and understands how their work impacts business goals
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability for delivering impactful solutions
• Proven ability to work closely and collaborate with cross functional partners, like product and design
• Demonstrated ability to write clean, well-documented, and testable code with a focus on maintainability and extensibility
• Strong understanding of observability and monitoring tools and practices
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
• A proactive and self-directed approach to work
• Experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Experience working with distributed teams

Responsibilities

• Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional partners (product, design, data science, and engineering) to architect and advance our observability products
• Leverage your broad experience to facilitate strategic discussions that align technical solutions with business goals, ensuring the delivery of scalable and effective features
• Drive comprehensive end-to-end feature development , taking full ownership from proof of concept through to delivery
• Ensure that each feature provides robust observability into system behavior and customer usage patterns post-launch, applying a deep understanding of both technical and user experience considerations to optimize feature performance and reliability
• Proactively identify opportunities for product and user experience improvements , leveraging data insights and feedback to propose innovative, well-reasoned solutions
• Lead the implementation of these enhancements, balancing user needs, business goals, and technical feasibility, ensuring each change drives meaningful improvements in engagement and performance
• Provide expert mentorship and support to teammates , guiding them through complex challenges and fostering a collaborative, high-performance environment
• Your deep expertise will help accelerate their growth, elevate team standards, and enhance overall productivity and technical excellence
• Actively lead and contribute to code reviews, spec reviews, and architecture design , ensuring alignment with best practices, long-term scalability, and maintainability
