Full Stack Engineer

Join our venture-backed insurtech company as a Full Stack Engineer and play a crucial role in building and maintaining our frontend and backend systems. You will design and implement features, build and maintain scalable RESTful APIs, develop user interfaces, and ensure comprehensive test coverage. This role requires 4+ years of experience in full-stack web application development, proficiency in frontend and backend technologies (including TypeScript, Vue 3, Kotlin/Java), and a strong understanding of software engineering best practices. Requirements

• 4+ years of professional experience building full stack web applications/services
• Strong proficiency in both frontend and backend technologies
• Frontend: TypeScript, Vue 3, HTML5, CSS (Tailwind, shadcn)
• Backend: Kotlin / Java, or experience with Scala, Swift, C#, etc
• Experience building and maintaining scalable RESTful APIs
• Understanding of distributed systems architecture and implementation
• Proven track record of implementing responsive, performant web applications
• Strong foundation in software engineering best practices, including: Automated testing
• Strong foundation in software engineering best practices, including: Code quality and review processes
• Strong foundation in software engineering best practices, including: System monitoring and alerting
• Strong foundation in software engineering best practices, including: Documentation
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills across the full technology stack
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a bias toward action
• Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment
• Bachelor's Degree
• Authorized to work in the US/Canada

Responsibilities

• Design and implement features across the entire technology stack, from core backend services to frontend applications
• Build and maintain scalable RESTful APIs
• Develop responsive and intuitive user interfaces using modern frontend frameworks
• Write and maintain clean, efficient, and well-documented code
• Drive improvements in engineering standards, tooling, and patterns across both frontend and backend systems
• Ensure comprehensive test coverage across all layers of the application
• Debug production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack
• Contribute to architectural decisions that will shape our platform's future
• Push the product, processes, and platform forward through innovative solutions

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS services (SQS, SNS, DynamoDB)
• Single Page Application development
• Knowledge of modern CI/CD practices
• Understanding of AWS/GCP, Document storage engines, API/client generation
• Experience with micro-services architecture
• Previous experience in insurtech or financial services
• Contributions to open-source projects
• Experience working in fast-paced startup environments
• Track record of mentoring other developers
• History of leading technical initiatives from conception to delivery
