Geospatial Data Operations Specialist

Summary

Join onX as a Geospatial Data Operations Specialist for a 5-month fixed-term position! You will support core data types (transportation, roads, trails) powering onX mobile apps by manually curating data to improve map quality and coverage. This role involves using onX's web-based GIS editing platform, processing spatial data, conducting quality control, and collaborating with team leads. You'll analyze processes, suggest improvements, and contribute to ad-hoc data processing needs. Requirements

• Certificate, Associate's Degree or Bachelor’s degree in Geography, Geospatial Analysis or closely related field
• Experience with desktop Geospatial software such as QGIS or ArcMap
• Ability to follow instructions as provided in process documentation
• Detail-oriented, highly organized self-starter
• Patience for repetitive tasks
• Ability to maintain a positive, helpful, constructive attitude
• Ability to establish and maintain efficient working relationships with other onX employees
• Desire to contribute to a strong team dynamic

Responsibilities

• Manual curation within onX's web-based GIS editing platform of high-value datasets
• Process spatial data within our established processing pipelines
• Conduct quality control checks on spatial data to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Communicate with the team leads to address any issues
• Critically analyze existing processes and make suggestions for improvements
• Provide support to ad hoc data processing needs

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with cadastral, trails/transportation, and/or points of interest (POI) data
• Experience with editing OpenStreetMap (OSM) data via the iD Editor
