Summary

Join Contact Energy as a Health and Safety Specialist for a 6-month fixed-term contract. Reporting to the Head of Safety Leadership, you will support the strategic transformation of Health & Safety. You will be the go-to person for complex H&S questions, utilizing your in-depth knowledge of risk management and assessment. The role involves providing dedicated support to various business units, collaborating with teams, and contributing to high-level reporting. Contact Energy prioritizes a human-centered approach to safety, focusing on creating a successful and safe workplace. This senior role requires extensive experience in H&S, ideally within heavy industry, and strong communication and presentation skills. Requirements

• Have sound knowledge of New Zealand H&S legislation and its practical application (ideally in heavy industry)
• Possess the ability to understand how front-line workers manage risk and goal conflicts
• Have worked at a senior level before, with appropriate qualifications and registrations
• Be a renowned communicator, able to convey complex information clearly to various audiences
• Have high EQ and great listening skills
• Have great writing skills to pull Board papers together

Responsibilities

• Support the strategic transformation of Health & Safety at Contact
• Act as the go-to person for any questions beyond the scope of an H&S Advisor
• Utilize in-depth knowledge of critical risk management and assessment
• Provide dedicated Health & Safety support to Generation & Trading and Retail
• Be independent, involved, informed and informative
• Run learning teams
• Collate reporting
• Help pull Board papers together
• Take a considered, human-centered approach to maintain a safe workplace
