Summary
Join FrontierView as an SSA Healthcare Research Analyst to support the SSA Healthcare practice, primarily focusing on South Africa, Kenya, and Nigeria. You will construct insights regarding the business implications of economic and policy developments in the region for multinational healthcare companies. The role requires monitoring major developments in country-level healthcare policy and producing research deliverables for senior executive clients. This is a one-year contract, potentially renewable, offering significant responsibility and freedom to shape the SSA healthcare practice. You will gain exposure to senior executives and build a deep understanding of challenges facing local healthcare systems. The position involves collaboration with the global macroeconomic research practice.
Requirements
- Have a Bachelor's or Masterโs degree from a top-tier academic institution (achieved or in progress) or relevant work experience
- Have a major in economics, public health, business, international relations, or regional studies relevant to Sub-Saharan Africa
- Demonstrate knowledge of SSA markets, through academic and/or professional research experience. An understanding of the current socio-political and economic environment is particularly key
- Have excellent communication skills in English (writing specifically)
- Have a basic understanding of macroeconomics
- Demonstrate research experience (in academic or professional setting) including hypothesis-testing, structuring complex research projects, primary and secondary research, and other research techniques
- Have experience in managing multiple projects, working on tight deadlines, and working relatively independently
- Demonstrate the ability to cover a variety of topics and issues, including completely new topics
- Be familiar with Excel and PowerPoint
Responsibilities
- Track and monitor ongoing changes to healthcare policy in SSA, including: changes to local formularies, changes to reimbursement design, changes to healthcare financing, changes to effective insurance coverage, changes to drug and medical device approval processes, and other developments impacting local regulators, payers, providers, and patients
- Write research deliverables that allow for quick and effective communication of healthcare systemsโ financial flows and stakeholder incentives
- Drive the development of forward-looking views on healthcare policy in SSA
- Deliver research presentations to senior executive clients in person and over the phone
- Collaborate with members of our global macroeconomic research practice on linking their analysis to the healthcare teamโs analysis on healthcare trends in SSA
