Summary
Join Snapsheet's growing team as a Heavy Equipment Appraiser! This remote, full-time position involves managing a high volume of claims for insurance carriers across the U.S. and Canada. As a subject matter expert, you will evaluate damage to large commercial vehicles and machinery, negotiate repair pricing, and ensure compliance with carrier guidelines. You'll need at least two years of heavy equipment estimating experience and proficiency in estimating platforms. Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience estimating damage to heavy equipment (e.g. semi trucks, trailers, agricultural or industrial machinery)
- Deep knowledge of parts, heavy equipment repair methods, total loss evaluation, and equipment configurations
- Solid grasp of insurance principles—liability, total loss thresholds, and fraud detection
- Proficiency in one or more estimating platforms (CCC One, Mitchell, Audatex, AdjustRite)
- Strong critical thinking, communication, and decision-making skills
- Positive team player who thrives in a fast-paced, remote, production-based environment
- Adaptable, coachable, and committed to growth
Responsibilities
- Write fair, accurate estimates and supplements for heavy-duty vehicles and machinery—including semi trucks, trailers, agricultural equipment, and construction machinery—based on photos of physical damage
- Ensure compliance with carrier and state-specific guidelines
- Negotiate agreed-upon repair pricing with shops while maintaining professionalism
- Consistently meet or exceed productivity and quality expectations
- Tailor estimating strategy based on vehicle type, carrier expectations, and feedback
- Integrate QA and team leader feedback to continuously improve
- Create clear, detailed claim documentation using internal tools and external resources
- Communicate effectively with repair shops, carriers, and customers
- Collaborate remotely with peers and managers while working independently
Preferred Qualifications
- Auto or specialty estimating experience is a plus
- Bonus: State appraiser or adjuster license (or willingness to get licensed—we’ll help!)
