Intermediate Test Engineer Automation (Java)

Summary

Join our team as an experienced Test Engineer with strong backend automation skills to contribute to a data-driven platform for gift card and loyalty programs. You will help deliver reliable, high-quality software solutions and work with a modern tech stack (GCP, Jenkins, etc.). This role involves designing and executing automated tests, deploying software to cloud environments, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and driving continuous improvements. The position offers a comfortable remote environment and is open to candidates in Brazil, Argentina, or Colombia. We are actively recruiting and encourage you to submit your CV in English.

Requirements

• 3+ years of software testing experience focused on backend (REST API) test automation
• Proficiency in Groovy or Java (C# or Python experience acceptable if open to switching to Groovy)
• Strong understanding of agile development, testing lifecycle, and OOP principles
• Experience in backend manual testing
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and tools like Jenkins
• Knowledge of Git and test reporting tools
• Ability to build and maintain automation frameworks and tools
• Strong troubleshooting and investigation skills
• Proficiency in SQL and relational databases (MySQL)
• Understanding of the HTTP protocol and REST architecture
• Experience with Linux/Mac terminal
• Strong communication skills, independence, and a proactive approach with high visibility
• Upper-Intermediate English level

Responsibilities

• Design and execute automated tests
• Deploy software to cloud environments using Jenkins and perform automated testing with occasional manual system adjustments
• Design and develop automation scenarios for robust, scalable backend and API-driven solutions
• Develop and maintain in-house automation frameworks and CI/CD tools
• Prepare test data and clarify requirements as needed
• Communicate with platform teams and stakeholders to ensure alignment on requirements, priorities, and testing efforts
• Analyze test results, report issues, and maintain clear, detailed test documentation
• Provide daily task status updates to the client
• Conduct SQL data quality checks and functional/regression testing
• Present demos to stakeholders at the end of each work cycle
• Participate in meetings, scrums, retrospectives, and team interactions
• Deploy and maintain QA environments
• Keep QA documentation up to date

Preferred Qualifications

Experience using cloud environments for automation testing, preferably GCP (AWS acceptable)
