Requirements

  • Academic Background: Rising college senior pursuing a master’s degree in finance, economics, investments, or a related field
  • Analytical Skills: Strong quantitative and analytical abilities, with the ability to work through complex financial data
  • Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Excel is required; familiarity with SQL, R, Python, MATLAB, or Bloomberg is a plus
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely
  • Leadership Presence: Confidence and credibility to effectively present to senior management
  • Growth Mindset: Interest in pursuing the CFA designation is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Analyze portfolio performance and risk, providing actionable insights
  • Develop quantitative models to evaluate both prospective and current investments
  • Assist in creating reports and presentations to communicate investment strategy, performance, and risk to senior management, the Investment Committee, and the Board of Directors
  • Build automated and efficient reporting systems to track portfolio positions, activity, performance, risk, and compliance
  • Collaborate with Investment Managers and cross-functional teams to develop investment recommendations based on market conditions, ALM, and Fortitude Re’s capital position
  • Conduct due diligence on potential asset acquisitions and assist in creating strategies for future reinsurance liabilities

Are you ready to apply your academic knowledge in a professional setting? Fortitude Re is excited to offer a 9-week Investment Analytics Internship that provides hands-on experience and insight into the reinsurance industry. As an intern, you will work on meaningful projects that have a direct impact on our business, allowing you to sharpen your skills and develop your business acumen.

Location: Jersey City, NJ

Duration: June 2, 2025 - August 1, 2025

Availability: Must be available for the entire duration of the program (9 weeks).

About Fortitude Re Investments Team

Our Investments team is responsible for designing and executing asset strategies that support reinsured liabilities. This dynamic team manages the development and maintenance of Fortitude Re’s strategic investment plan and collaborates with asset managers to execute these strategies. In addition, the team monitors portfolio performance, assesses risk, and communicates insights to executive management, the Board of Directors, the Investment Committee, regulators, and other stakeholders. The group plays a key role in Asset Liability Management (ALM), ensuring alignment between Fortitude Re’s investment activities and overall business objectives.

What You’ll Do:
