Jr Tax Accountant

The job is for a Jr. Tax Accountant at Long View's Head Office in Calgary. The role involves preparing and maintaining Canadian and US taxes, reconciling all tax accounts monthly, and providing guidance on sales tax queries among other duties.

Requirements

• 2+ years’ related tax experience
• Basic understanding of indirect tax and Canadian corporate income tax

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly US and Canadian Sales Tax Returns
• Reconcile all tax accounts monthly
• Maintain the Sales Tax System and ensure all Exemption Certificates are maintained and up to date
• Research and provide guidance internally and externally on sales tax queries
• Provide tax audit support for annual financial audit and government audits
• Complete new tax filing registrations and business licenses as required
• Assist with the preparation of: o Quarterly tax provision o Annual Canadian Tax Return o Information required for the US Corporate Tax Returns o Transfer pricing documentation o Respond to government queries for tax filings, registrations, audit requests, and other as required
• Develop written policies, procedures and control processes relating to tax for our company
• Provide recommendations for improvement
• Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance
• Active pursuit of CPA Designation
