Junior Data Engineer / Data Analyst / Data Scientist

Summary

Join Devoteam's nearshore team in Portugal as a junior-level data professional (Engineer, Analyst, or Scientist). This remote position focuses on SQL and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Handle and transform large datasets, write and optimize complex SQL queries, build efficient data pipelines, and work with GCP services. The role requires strong SQL skills, GCP familiarity, one year of data-related experience, analytical skills, and English proficiency (B2 level). Experience with Python, BI tools, data engineering practices, and strong communication skills are preferred. Candidates must be based in Portugal.

Requirements

• Strong SQL skills (advanced level)
• Familiarity with GCP (BigQuery, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, etc.)
• +1 year of experience (including internships) in a data-related role
• Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills
• English proficiency (minimum B2 level)

Responsibilities

• Handle and transform large data sets with attention to quality and performance
• Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL queries
• Build efficient data pipelines in collaboration with technical and business teams
• Work with Google Cloud Platform services to manage and process data

Preferred Qualifications

• Academic or professional experience with Python
• Experience with BI tools (e.g. Looker, Data Studio, Power BI)
• Understanding of data engineering practices (ETL/ELT, data pipelines)
• Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively
