Junior Technical Writer

Summary

Join Marqeta as a Contract Junior Technical Writer to create documentation for developers using the Marqeta platform. This temporary position focuses on incident reports, can be performed remotely in the US, and offers a competitive hourly rate.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in technical writing, computer science, English, or a related field, or at least one year of experience in technical writing for developer audiences
• Familiarity with creating and publishing technical documentation
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders in the Marqeta organization
• Proficiency with editing, authoring, CMS, and task management tools: experience with Atlassian Jira, Git, and markdown is helpful
• Ability to work independently and to collaborate, and to balance multiple projects
• Knowledge of technical writing standards and familiarity with common style guides

Responsibilities

• Write clear and helpful documentation for developers, analysts, managers, and other specialists who use the Marqeta platform and APIs to make and manage payment card programs
• Evaluate documentation and editing tasks, analyze audience needs, and author updates to customer-facing documentation and incident reports
• Work closely with engineers, product managers, and other team members to gather information, request feedback, test functionality, and obtain technical reviews
• Track data about incoming incident reports using Atlassian Jira and Google Sheets
• Participate in the team's efforts to establish style and process guidelines, and to choose and use appropriate tools for writing and publishing documentation

Preferred Qualifications

It's helpful, but not required, to have experience in Fintech, Banking, or Payments
