Join Workyard, a fast-growing startup developing an innovative workforce management platform for the construction industry, as a Junior Web Engineer. This hybrid role (2 days in Sydney, 3 days remote) offers the chance to build a game-changing product. You will work within a highly experienced team, building new features, implementing designs, improving the codebase, and ensuring rigorous testing. The ideal candidate is a recent graduate or engineer with a few years of experience. This position requires strong software engineering skills (React/TypeScript), experience with business applications, SQL proficiency, analytical abilities, and excellent communication skills. The company is unable to sponsor visas, so only candidates with full working rights in Australia will be considered.
Requirements
- Outstanding software engineer (React/TypeScript): youβve shipped consumer-focused applications and understand what it takes to code robust apps
- Some experience building and supporting business applications with complex workflows such as e-commerce sites, marketplaces, SaaS or banking products
- Basic SQL, proficient at diving into and interpreting data
- Analytical ability to think beyond the happy path scenarios and ask relevant questions to dig deeper and make sure all bases are covered
- Highly focused: you have a great ability to differentiate the essentials from the nice-to-haves in a way that gets you as fast as possible to the end result
- You can self manage your time and projects, setting a good example for other engineers
- Passion for software development and a desire to continuously improve your craft
- Strong UX and product sensibility
- Outstanding communication skills to collaborate with product designers to reach the best customer outcome
- B.S./M.S. in Computer Science or equivalent
Responsibilities
- Work within our product team to build new exciting features
- Implement pixel perfect designs to create attractive user experiences
- Improve the code base through continuous refactoring
- Implement unit tests and ensure rigorous E2E testing of new app releases is performed
- Keep up to date with the state-of-the-art of web development
- Proactively communicate and build strong relationships with team members
