Lead DevOps Infrastructure Engineer

Summary

Join Wiser Solutions' Infrastructure team as a Lead Infrastructure Engineer and help shape the technical vision for our infrastructure, observability, site reliability, and software release pipeline. This remote position based in Mexico requires a strong background in AWS, DevOps principles, and a passion for collaboration and mentorship. You will build and maintain large-scale AWS environments, implement best practices, and create tools to enhance engineering team productivity. The role demands proven leadership, technical expertise, and excellent communication skills. On-call responsibilities are part of the role, requiring availability during specified hours.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience within an infrastructure team
• Strong experience designing and maintaining large-scale AWS environments focusing on high availability, reliability, and security
• Understanding of AWS Well-Architected Framework
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP, networking protocols, and cloud-native networking
• Proficiency with modern infrastructure management tools and comfort at the command line
• Experience with multiple tools in the modern DevOps toolkit, infrastructure management tools, and automation
• Experience designing, deploying, and supporting a true cloud-native system
• Proven ability to learn quickly, make pragmatic decisions, and adapt to changing business needs
• Proven ability to provide tactical, and technical leadership
• Proven ability to provide technical leadership and foster collaboration within teams
• Strong interpersonal skills – the ability to build and maintain trust networks with your peers
• Ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts and plans to multiple audiences of varying technical capacity
• Demonstrated project development and leadership skills, focus on results
• Strong presentation skills, with experience conducting workshops or training sessions
• Excellent critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities, particularly in high-pressure situations
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
• A passion for continuous improvement, focusing on results that positively impact the business and customer

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing large installations for Postgres, MongoDB, or ElasticSearch
• Experience with time series databases or event sourced systems
• Passion for data, analytics, or machine learning (help make our systems learn how to better manage and heal themselves)
