Summary
Join Firaxis Games, a renowned game development studio, as a Senior Lead UX Designer to lead the UX vision for their next project. You will be responsible for creating a cohesive and frictionless player experience, mentoring a team of UX/UI designers, collaborating with other departments, conducting user research, and establishing UX best practices. This role requires 6+ years of UX design experience, including leadership experience in the game industry, a strong portfolio showcasing UX design work, a deep understanding of game systems and player psychology, proficiency in design tools, and excellent communication skills. Bonus points for experience designing UX for deep strategy games, experience with UE5 UMG, Blueprints and material editing, and familiarity with accessibility guidelines.
Requirements
- 6+ years of UX design experience, with at least 2+ years in a leadership or senior role in the game industry
- A portfolio that showcases UX design work on shipped titles, including game flows, wireframes, prototypes, and final implementations
- Deep understanding of game systems, player psychology, and interaction design principles
- Proficiency in tools like Figma, Adobe CC, Unity/Unreal, and rapid prototyping tools
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset β you're a bridge between creative vision and technical execution
- Passion for games, and a desire to push the medium forward
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end UX vision for our next project, from concept to launch, ensuring a cohesive and frictionless player experience
- Lead and mentor a cross-functional team of UX/UI designers, providing guidance, feedback, and direction
- Collaborate closely with Game Designers, Engineers, and Artists to translate gameplay goals into polished, usable experiences
- Conduct user research and usability testing to validate design decisions and iterate quickly
- Establish UX best practices and pipelines that scale with the team and support ongoing development
- Advocate for accessibility and inclusivity in design to support a wide range of players
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience designing UX for deep strategy games
- Experience in UE5 UMG, Blueprints and material editing
- Familiarity with accessibility guidelines (e.g., WCAG, Xbox/PlayStation accessibility standards)
