Summary
Join Later's small but mighty legal team as a key member of a scaling in-house legal department. Reporting to the VP, Legal, you will be a business person first and a lawyer second, with a proactive and practical approach to problem-solving. You will collaborate with various teams, review and negotiate contracts, offer legal counsel, support legal education, and stay informed on legislative changes. The ideal candidate possesses a JD with 3-5 years of experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial contracts, experience in corporate law, and a license to practice law in British Columbia or Ontario. Later offers a market-based compensation approach with a salary range of $120,000-$133,000 CAD and various benefits for permanent team members. The position offers the possibility of fully remote work.
Requirements
- JD with 3-5 years of experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex commercial contracts (NDAs, SAAS Agreements, SOWs, services agreements, etc.), ideally supporting a busy sales team
- Experience in corporate law and other related practice areas
- Licensed to practice law and in good standing in either British Columbia or Ontario
- Ability to assess and advise on complex contractual issues in a concise and business-minded manner
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced technology environment, actioning efficiently, and managing multiple competing priorities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience effectively communicating with all levels of an organization
- Experience working cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders on diverse projects
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with sales and customer support teams to review, interpret, draft, revise, and negotiate customer contracts within acceptable risk tolerance and company guidelines
- Support influencer-facing teams with influencer content, contracts, and other related matters
- Review, interpret, draft, revise, and negotiate vendor contracts
- Offer counsel on ad hoc legal matters, providing risk assessments and mitigation strategies
- Support up-leveling legal education in the organization
- Stay informed on legislative changes affecting the business to proactively advise on legal strategy
- Support other legal matters on an ad hoc basis
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in any of the following practice areas: advertising/marketing law, intellectual property law, privacy law
- License to practice law in one US State
