Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the company's legal team and General Counsel in a variety of legal and compliance-related activities
  • Support the management of pre-litigation and litigation matters
  • Respond to routine subpoenas
  • Work collaboratively with operations management and perform thorough investigations of complaint allegations
  • Manage, investigate, and respond to subpoenas and other requests for documents by external parties
  • Respond timely to discovery requests from legal recoveries

What does it mean to be a Legal Support Specialist at GLS?

As a Legal Support Specialist, you will be responsible for providing support to the company’s legal team and General Counsel in a variety of legal and compliance-related activities, including, but not limited to, supporting the management of pre-litigation and litigation matters, responding to routine subpoenas and providing support to other legal and compliance teams as needed.

How will you drive value within the organization as a Legal Support Specialist?

  • Work with Sr. Corporate Counsel, General Counsel, and outside counsel to support pre-litigation and litigation activities at all stages
  • Work collaboratively with operations management and perform thorough investigations of complaint allegations and document the results; prepare and submit appropriate responses that address consumer concerns; as appropriate, recommend actions to be taken to resolve consumer concerns and/or improve processes
  • Manage, investigate, and respond to subpoenas and other requests for documents by external parties
  • Respond timely to discovery requests from legal recoveries and provide overall support to legal recoveries
  • Use the data obtained during investigations to identify and analyze potential systemic risks to the business and assist in the remediation of such risks
  • Investigate and perform account-level reviews and provide recommendations to management and in-house counsel based on those investigations

What should you already have to be successful in this role?

  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Intrinsically motivated with demonstrated ability to take initiative, identify needs, make recommendations for improvement, see recommendations through implementation, and evaluate improvements for effectiveness
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Team player that can adapt in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Proficient computer skills with working knowledge of internet and standard business applications such as Microsoft Office; ability to quickly learn new computer applications as required

Employment Requirements:

  • This is an exempt level position whereby business need will dictate the exact work schedule which should be expected to vary at times. Generally, days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:30am-5:30pm
  • This position is full-time
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required, including overtime hours as business demands dictate
  • Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand
  • The position does not require travel
  • Constantly operate a computer and other standard office equipment
  • Talk and hear to exchange accurate information
  • Have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading
