Requirements

  • 3-5+ years of life new business underwriting and case management experience
  • Extensive experience with underwriting rules engines and rules management
  • Comfortable working in an agile environment and leveraging systems such as JIRA
  • An understanding of data and models in the underwriting process
  • The ability to communicate results and needs among multiple parties
  • A record of identifying opportunities and quickly delivering solutions
  • Desire to be a team player in a dynamic environment
  • An obsession with the customer and ability to challenge the status quo

Responsibilities

  • Ongoing analysis and monitoring of rules engine and workbench performance
  • Continued review of evidence and synthesization of underwriting data from all sources
  • Work with Head of Underwriting Strategies to assess business risk for changes to underwriting guidelines
  • Creation of specific recommendations and action plans to drive automated underwriting decisions and process improvement across underwriting and case management
  • Act as both an owner and contributor to multiple projects and initiatives
  • Solidify protocols for rule and system enhancements
  • Maintain appropriate documentation for underwriting criteria, guidelines and workflows
  • Ability to prioritize system decisions based on business need, business case and ROI
  • Serve as underwriting process expert and liaison to work cross-functionally with colleagues and partners in product, engineering, operations, finance, marketing, legal, etc
  • Ensure end-user proficiency with new systems, programs, and applications across departments through onboarding training and regular updates
  • Work with engineers to serve as a business liaison in order to efficiently integrate new data, models, partners programs, and applications as the need arises
