Summary

Join a small, agile team as a freelance Linux Embedded Engineer for a 6-week IoT project starting August 18. This is a full-time, fully remote position with flexible hours, offering a rate of 150-250 PLN net/hour. You will be the sole Firmware Engineer, taking ownership of the embedded side and working directly with a US-based client. The project involves working on an IoT device, collaborating with a hardware team, adapting the embedded Linux stack, and ensuring device readiness for a demo in early October. B2B/freelance cooperation only. The ideal candidate is an experienced, independent engineer with excellent communication skills.

Requirements

  • Have minimum 3 years of experience in embedded systems development with C/C++
  • Have hands-on experience with Linux build systems (Yocto or Buildroot)
  • Have a deep understanding of the Linux kernel, device drivers, bootloaders (esp. U-Boot)
  • Have experience with hardware bring-up and reading schematics
  • Be familiar with debugging tools (e.g., oscilloscopes, logic analyzers)
  • Have strong communication skills and a proactive mindset
  • Have English at B2+ level

Responsibilities

  • Work as the sole Firmware Engineer on the project, taking full ownership of the embedded side
  • Be in direct contact with the US-based client
  • Collaborate with a hardware team to bring up a new platform
  • Adapt the embedded Linux stack (based on Yocto/Buildroot)
  • Ensure device readiness for a demo in early October

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have experience with BLE, Wi-Fi, or other IoT protocols
  • Have knowledge of RTOS (e.g., FreeRTOS)
  • Have scripting experience in Bash or Python
