Localisation Reviewer

Summary

Join Canva's team as a French localisation reviewer and contribute to redefining the global design experience. This is a 6-month, part-time contract (20-30 hours/week) with remote work flexibility. You will review translated templates, ensuring accurate language and culturally appropriate design for the French (France and Canada) markets. The role requires fluency in French (fr-FR & fr-CA), experience in content localisation, and a strong understanding of French culture. Requirements

• Be fluent in French (fr-FR & fr-CA), with knowledge of common slang and unique phrases used in France and Canada
• Have experience in content localisation, particularly in design and copy
• Have the ability to learn internal design and localisation tools quickly, and get things done in a timely manner
• Have a keen understanding in the French (France & Canada) market, including its history, trends, news, and social and political culture
• Have the ability to read and follow strict guidelines, and communicate coherently and properly

Responsibilities

• Review translated templates, including posters, invitations, social media graphics, presentations, print materials, and more, created using Canva’s design tool
• Localise content from English to French (fr-FR & fr-CA) by adjusting language and updating design to be more in line with the French and French Canadian market
• Provide language feedback
• Implement language and design fixes on spell check and grammar
• Implement language and design fixes on language quality and flow (grammar, punctuation, spelling errors/typos, cohesiveness, etc.)
• Implement language and design fixes on adherence to guidelines and brand tone of voice
• Implement language and design fixes on design issues (improper line breaks in text, inappropriate/incorrect/controversial imagery, font replacement, etc.)
• Implement language and design fixes on cultural fit
• Redesign templates as necessary

Preferred Qualifications

• Have a strong foundation and stylistic approach to design, with a keen understanding in visual, cultural, and popular trends, especially in France and Canada
• Have an understanding of French culture, trends, news, controversies, history, conflict, and can stay up-to-date with the local scene to create templates with appropriate and non-discriminatory, non-sensitive content
• Have an understanding of French cultural sensitivities to ensure that content is appropriate for the market, both from a social and legal perspective
