As an Engineering Manager for our Telematics business unit, you will manage a team of Automotive Engineers responsible for expanding diagnostic coverage across a fleet of 10,000+ vehicles. You will collaborate with firmware engineers, product managers, and customer support teams to leverage data from 1.2M+ vehicle gateways. This remote position, open to candidates in Canada, offers the opportunity to impact various industries and build for scale. Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a diverse fast-paced customer-focused environment
  • Strong knowledge of vehicle systems and CAN communication
  • Understands the value of team culture, communication, and collaboration
  • 5+ years experience in a technology or automotive industry
  • Ability to work with a geographically dispersed team

Responsibilities

  • Manage a team of 4-6 Automotive Engineers working on multiple projects that expand diagnostic coverage and add customer value
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship in automotive network communication
  • Develop best practices and guidelines for the Vehicle Gateway to operate as a third-party telematics device inside the vehicle network
  • Work with leadership on the planning and execution of quarterly roadmaps that balance product and engineering priorities for maximum customer impact
  • Build a healthy collaborative culture of accountability and continuous improvement while setting a high standard for execution quality
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices
  • Hire, develop and lead an inclusive, engaged, and high performing team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Automotive OEM/Supplier or Telematics provider experience
  • Familiarity with GIT or related software development program
  • Demonstrated experience delivering software features, leading teams, and managing engineers
