Summary

Join Henry Schein One as a Software Engineering Manager to lead engineering teams in building Dentrix, a leading dental practice management system. You will drive excellence in engineering, quality assurance, and product delivery while fostering a high-performance culture. This key role involves aligning engineering with strategic objectives, empowering the engineering team, and ensuring security, compliance, and reliability. You will lead engineers through the entire SDLC, collaborating with product, architecture, and business leadership. At Henry Schein One, we empower teams to solve meaningful problems improving the lives of dental professionals and their patients. This is a remote position within the United States, with a preference for candidates in Utah who can come to the office 1-2 days a week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred
  • 7+ years of progressive software development experience with our tech stack, with 1+ years in people management
  • Proven success leading distributed or hybrid engineering teams at scale
  • Excellent knowledge of SDLC, including Agile methodologies and CI/CD practices
  • Ability to lead through influence, resolve conflict, and build consensus across functions
  • Clear, empathetic communicator who thrives in collaborative environments
  • Analytical, strategic thinker who can balance tech debt, innovation, and delivery
  • Passionate about people development and organizational growth

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow an engineering team delivering mission-critical software to dental practices and their patients
  • Directly oversee a team of various levels of engineers (onshore and nearshore) and influence engineering practices, technical execution, and outcomes across the organization
  • Drive clarity, accountability, and alignment through effective communication of goals, priorities, and status to team members and stakeholders
  • Support hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and career development to attract and retain top engineering talent
  • Establish and ensure adherence to standards for software engineering, analysis, QA, and project delivery
  • Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Partner with Product and UX to deliver customer-centric solutions that align with strategic initiatives
  • Monitor and manage project scope, forecasts, risks, and budgets
  • Promote mature DevOps practices, continuous integration/deployment, and test-driven development

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with REST APIs, Java and AWS a plus
