Manager, Software Engineering

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or similar quantitative field or the equivalent industry experience
• 2+ years in people management or tech lead capacity
• 7+ years of prior professional experience working on backend and Cloud code
• Diligent in implementing and supporting services that last outwards to a year
• Proficient in microservices and horizontally scalable architectures
• Adaptive to working on various aspects of our system for different teams
• Communicate effectively with cross-platform teammates
• Experience with high-scale, low-latency systems
• Understand how to deploy and maintain systems, ideally with Kubernetes and Argo CD

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, providing guidance, support, and technical expertise to foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence
• Define and execute the technical roadmap for devices cloud back end aligning with business goals and strategic initiatives
• Drive the adoption of best practices, coding standards, and development methodologies to ensure the delivery of high-quality, maintainable code
• Course correct where needed while leaving teams feeling empowered
• Ensure programs are executed successfully regardless of the problems or constraints that arise
• Combine technical initiatives and roadmaps into a coherent vision
• Support the adaptation of the vision and strategy, and continuously follow up providing updates and feedback to all stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with Kafka Streams
• AWS (EC2, EKS, DynamoDB, Kinesis), databases (MySql), Languages (Java, Python, PHP)
• AWS IoT and MQTT knowledge
• IoT Device interest
