Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Masters or doctorate degree in a health-related or scientific discipline
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to understand and effectively communicate scientific and clinical data to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Exceptional project management, superior organizational and advanced MS Office skills required (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to review and edit scientific content meticulously with attention to detail
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Team-oriented, flexible, creative, inquisitive, driven and extremely reliable

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Medical & Scientific Communications Lead to support the tactical execution of Medical Communications Plans
  • Create and support the production of scientific materials, including scientific publications, medical education materials, medical information resources, and slide decks for scientific presentations and KOL engagement activities
  • Collaborate with authors and medical writing team in drafting, writing, reviewing and editing of materials; incorporate edits
  • Collaborate with medical affairs, clinical development, marketing, investor relations, to translate complex scientific and clinical data into clear and compelling messages for different target audiences
  • Provide support to all communications with authors to track and facilitate publications submission, content approvals and other related activities as needed per ICJME guidelines
  • Facilitate the internal and external (if applicable) review and approval of publications
  • Submit finalized content to congresses following approvals
  • Facilitate the Publications Committee including generation of agendas, recording and circulating meeting minutes, and tracking outcomes of decisions
  • Shepherd medical materials through the review and approval process
  • Coordinate and participate in MRC meetings to resolve conflicting comments
  • Manage reviewer timelines with close attention to deadlines, understanding sensitivities related to detail and timeline of information dissemination
  • Create and maintain project status and projected timelines for medical and scientific materials
  • Organize and track review materials along with maintaining an IT system (VEEVA) ensuring appropriate/necessary signatures and references are in place
  • Work closely with other stakeholders to ensure appropriate "final" versions are in use
  • Assist in ensuring internal document and information repository is maintained and accessible for Medical Affairs stakeholders
  • Provide updates to internal stakeholders on medical communications-related activities as needed
  • Demonstrate the values of Ocular Therapeutix
  • Collaborate with external vendors and agencies, including medical writers, graphic designers, and event management companies
  • Other duties as assigned
  • May oversee the work of external consultant(s) and/or manage vendor(s)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Clinical research/publications experience strongly preferred
  • Experience in the ophthalmic pharmaceutical space preferred, but not required
  • 1+ years’ experience in Medical Affairs or related fields like medical device, biotech, pharma or others
  • Experience with Veeva Vault Promo mats preferred but not required
  • Ability to travel 15%
